This product uses polysilazane as the film-forming material, compounded with high-temperature-resistant ceramic fillers, ultrafine powders, plastic fillers and other components. After high-temperature curing it converts into an inorganic ceramic composite coating. The high-temperature conversion forms a Si-C-N ceramic structure, producing a dense, ultra-high-temperature-resistant coating on metal substrates that can serve long-term in 1000 °C environments without cracking, flaking or discoloration. The coating is abrasion-resistant, dense and corrosion-protective.

Application areas: (1) boiler components, petrochemical blast furnaces, inner and outer walls of hot-blast stoves, chimneys, flues, exhaust pipes; (2) high-temperature devices, high-temperature sensor components; (3) surfaces of metallurgical equipment, molds and casting equipment; (4) electric heating elements, tanks, cabinets, heat exchangers, radiators; (5) small household appliances and kitchenware (burner caps, rice cookers), etc.; (6) high-temperature components in the chemical and metallurgical industries.

Choose this grade as the bake-cured workhorse for continuous 800 °C service: 260 °C cure, ≥8H hardness, ≥1000 h neutral salt spray. Colour options are available via EK-D09.

Service temperature. Maximum withstand temperature with nitrogen curing 1300 °C (limited by the metal substrate); suitable for long-term service at 1000 °C (limited by the metal substrate); withstands long-term direct impingement by flame or high-temperature gas flow. The temperature resistance of the coating varies with the temperature capability of the substrate (note: product performance differs depending on the substrate).

310S stainless steel, 316 stainless steel and other high-temperature alloy steels. Note: the coating formulation differs for different substrates; within a certain range it can be adjusted and matched to the substrate and its service conditions.

Storage, packaging & transport

  • Store in accordance with national regulations, in a dry, cool and well-ventilated environment away from heat sources and open flames. Packaging containers must be kept tightly closed and placed with care.

  • Maintain the storage temperature between 10 °C and 30 °C; the shelf life is 6 months.

  • Coating that has been opened but not used up must be resealed under the container lid and stored sealed.

  • Mixed coating that is not used up cannot be reclaimed; dispose of it in accordance with local regulations.

  • Product past its shelf life may be used only after testing confirms it is still acceptable.

Standard process: Surface cleaning → Abrasive roughening → Cleaning and blow-off → Spray/blade coating → Curing

  • Abrasive roughening. Before coating, sand or grit-blast the substrate surface to remove rust, dust, dirt and other matter adhering to the workpiece surface. Roughening strongly affects coating performance — Sa2.5 is optimal and St3 with no mill scale is the minimum (GB/T 30790.4-2014) — so give this step full attention.

  • Cleaning. Use a dedicated cleaning agent or degreaser to remove oil, dust and other residues remaining on the roughened surface.

  • Substrate drying. Before coating, ensure the substrate surface is dry and clean.

  • Coating mixing. This is a two-component product: take an appropriate amount of coating at the specified mixing ratio, stir until thoroughly and uniformly mixed, and filter through a 180-mesh screen before use.

  • Coating application. For laboratory spray application, a spray gun with a 1.0 nozzle orifice gives better appearance and uniformity.

  • Curing. Air curing provides temperature resistance up to 700 °C; nitrogen curing provides maximum temperature resistance of 1300 °C (contact the supplier for nitrogen-curing conditions).

Note: This product is a two-component heat-curing product; use the mixed coating within 12 hours. Over longer application periods, clean application tools promptly to prevent them from setting solid. Dry film thickness should not exceed 35 µm, otherwise coating film performance will decline.
