Polysilazane offers excellent temperature resistance and electrical insulation. This product is a polysilazane modified by a special process, supplied as a two-component system. The modified polysilazane exhibits excellent toughness, hardness, adhesion, heat resistance with yellowing resistance, and high-voltage withstand performance. Adhesion is excellent, at Grade 0 (cross-cut), and the paint film withstands 180° bending while remaining intact.

The unfilled clear varnish withstands temperatures above 430 °C with a withstand voltage above 10 kV; grades filled with functional powders withstand temperatures above 550 °C without yellowing, with a withstand voltage above 6000 V. This greatly extends the service performance and application range of polysilazane.

Choose this grade for high-voltage insulation without oven curing: ≥10⁵ V/mm dielectric strength at 430 °C service (550 °C peaks), >2000 h salt spray, room-temperature or 140 °C cure.

Service temperature. Intended for outdoor service at ambient temperature; resin grades adjusted for hardness with good toughness can withstand high-temperature service conditions up to 450 °C. The coating's temperature resistance varies according to the temperature resistance of the particular substrate; withstand voltage reaches above 6000 V, and the coating resists cold–heat cycling and thermal shock (note: the product supplied differs depending on the substrate).

Stainless steel, glass, cast iron, aluminum alloy, titanium alloy, high-temperature alloy steel, manganese steel and similar materials are all suitable. Note: the coating formulation differs depending on the substrate; within a certain range it can be adjusted and matched to the substrate and its service conditions.

Storage, packaging & transport

  • Store in accordance with national regulations in a dry, cool, well-ventilated environment, away from heat and ignition sources. Keep packaging containers tightly closed and place them with care.

  • Maintain the storage temperature between 5 °C and 30 °C; the shelf life is 6 months.

  • Coating that has been opened but not used up must be stored with the container lid tightly sealed.

  • Mixed (thinned) coating that has not been used up cannot be reclaimed; dispose of it in accordance with local regulations.

  • Product past its shelf life may be used only after testing confirms it still conforms.

Standard process: Surface cleaning → abrasive roughening → cleaning and blow-off → EK-M09 spray application → curing

  • Abrasive roughening. Before coating, sand or grit-blast the substrate surface to remove rust, dust, dirt and other contamination adhering to the workpiece surface. Roughening has a considerable influence on coating performance: Sa2.5 is optimal and the minimum is St3 with no mill scale (GB/T 30790.4-2014), so give this step full attention.

  • Cleaning. Remove residual oil, dust and other contamination from the roughened surface using a dedicated cleaning agent or degreaser.

  • Substrate drying. Before coating, ensure the substrate surface is dry and clean.

  • Coating mixing. Take the required amount of product as needed and filter it through a 120-mesh screen before use.

  • Coating application. For laboratory spray application, a spray gun with a 1.0 nozzle bore gives better appearance and uniformity. The cured coating is somewhat hydrophobic and oleophobic, so repeated recoating is not recommended.

  • Curing. After spraying, room-temperature curing should give surface-dry in 1 hour, touch-dry in more than 2 hours and through-dry in more than 24 hours; accelerated heat curing is also possible (hold at 140 °C for 20 minutes).

Note: This product is a two-component curing product; once the container is opened, use the coating within 2 hours. During longer intervals in application, clean the application tools thoroughly to prevent them from setting. Application in a single spray pass is recommended, with a dry film thickness not exceeding 100 µm.
