The material

How this grade works and where it fits — exact parameters are defined in the TDS.

EK-M15 thermal insulation coating uses polysilazane as the binder, to which a proportion of thermal-insulating powder, hollow glass microspheres and ceramic microspheres is added; after stirring and dispersion, a coating with both heat-insulating and heat-retaining functions is obtained. It offers high temperature resistance and low thermal conductivity: it withstands 300-500 °C, has a thermal conductivity of 0.03-0.05 W/m.K, and at a thickness of 2-4 mm can block 40% of the heating temperature. It is suitable for critical equipment in aerospace, metallurgy and electric power, petrochemical, and transportation applications.

Polysilazane possesses excellent temperature resistance and electrical insulation properties; the thermal insulation coating produced by polysilazane modification exhibits good hydrophobic, moisture-proof and waterproof performance, temperature resistance, and good electrical insulation.

The product is supplied as a colorless, transparent two-component (A/B) system. Users may add a quantity of color paste as required to enhance performance.

The product can be applied in fields such as electronic components, printed circuit boards, wound inductors and motors, at thicknesses of up to 2-5 mm.

Choose this grade when the goal is keeping heat in or out rather than surface protection alone: thermal-insulation coating filled with hollow glass microspheres, room-temperature or 60 °C cure, >2000 h salt spray.

Substrates & storage

Compatibility and handling essentials — confirmed per grade in the TDS and SDS.

Suitable substrates

Steel and stainless steel

Aluminium and other metals

Glass and ceramics

Stone and mineral surfaces

Substrate compatibility for a specific grade is confirmed in the TDS.

Storage, packaging & transport

  • Store in accordance with national regulations. The storage environment should be dry, cool and well ventilated, away from heat and ignition sources. Packaging containers must be kept tightly sealed and placed with care.

  • The storage temperature should be maintained between 5 °C and 30 °C; the shelf life is 1-2 years.

  • Opened, partially used coating must be stored with the container lid tightly resealed.

  • Mixed coating that has not been used up cannot be reclaimed; dispose of it in accordance with local regulations.

  • Product past its shelf life may be used only after testing confirms it conforms to specification.

01

Surface preparation

Clean, degrease and prepare the substrate.

02

Application

Spray, dip or wipe depending on grade.

03

Curing

Cure per the TDS conditions.

04

Quality control

Verify film build and adhesion.

Standard process: Surface cleaning → mixing and stirring of the A/B components → spray application → curing

  • Cleaning. Use a dedicated cleaning agent or degreaser to remove oil, dust and other residues remaining on the abrasively roughened surface.

  • Substrate drying. Before coating, ensure that the substrate surface is dry and clean.

  • Coating mixing. The product is a two-component (A/B) system. Slowly add component B while stirring, and stir for 2 minutes until fully homogeneous. The stirring speed should be slow to avoid entraining a large amount of air bubbles.

  • Application. Brush or spray the mixed coating onto the workpiece surface or the interior of the container.

  • Curing. Cure at room temperature, or bake-cure at a low temperature of 50-60 °C.
