The material

How this grade works and where it fits — exact parameters are defined in the TDS.

This product is a novel silicon–nitrogen–oxygen system compound bearing two types of reactive groups, amino and ethoxy; it is a colorless to pale-yellow transparent liquid. It is used to improve the interfacial bonding between inorganic materials (such as glass fiber, metals and mineral fillers) and organic polymer materials (such as resins, rubber and plastics). It significantly improves the physical and mechanical properties of composite materials, such as tensile and flexural strength, as well as their thermal stability, electrical properties and water resistance.

Used in coatings and inks, it serves as an adhesion promoter to increase adhesion, lower the curing temperature and improve corrosion protection. The product is likewise suitable for all types of glass-fiber-reinforced thermoplastic and thermosetting resins, such as PP, PA, furan resin, epoxy resin, phenolic resin, polyurethane, polyimide and polysilazane resin; the typical dosage is 0.5%–10%. It improves bonding to glass, masonry, metal and other substrates, shows good stability under complex climatic conditions together with high elongation, and can also be used in nano-silica-modified reinforcement materials.

Choose this additive to boost cure and adhesion of room-temperature systems: an amino/ethoxy-functional crosslinking promoter with a -50…280 °C service window.

Storage conditions apply

Service temperature. At curing temperatures below 130 °C the product best develops the crosslinking in which it participates. Depending on the temperature resistance of the particular substrate, the temperature resistance of the coating will vary accordingly; it withstands cold–heat cycling and offers thermal-shock resistance (note: the corresponding product differs for different substrates).

Substrates & storage

Compatibility and handling essentials — confirmed per grade in the TDS and SDS.

Suitable substrates

Steel and stainless steel

Aluminium and other metals

Glass and ceramics

Stone and mineral surfaces

Carbon steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum alloys, titanium alloys, high-temperature alloy steels, glass-ceramic plates, ceramics, cement and similar materials, as well as plastic products, rubber products, coatings, inks, composite materials, magnetic materials, adhesives, foundry applications, etc. Note: The coating formulation differs for different substrates; within a certain range it can be adjusted and matched to the substrate and its specific service conditions.

Storage, packaging & transport

  • Store in accordance with national regulations. The storage environment should be dry, cool and well ventilated, away from heat and ignition sources. Packaging containers must be kept tightly closed and placed with care.

  • The storage temperature should be kept between 5 °C and 25 °C; the shelf life is 12 months.

  • Opened, partly used material must be promptly resealed with the container lid and stored sealed.

  • Prepared material that is not used up cannot be reclaimed and should be disposed of in accordance with local regulations.

  • Product past its shelf life may be used only after testing confirms it still meets specifications.
