The material

How this grade works and where it fits — exact parameters are defined in the TDS.

EK-S10 polyaluminosilazane has a ceramic yield above 75% and can be used for SiAlCN, SiAlCNO and SiAlO2 ceramic materials, composite materials and related applications. It can be applied to steel surfaces operating at 400–1000 °C, providing decorative, protective, anti-rust and anti-corrosion functions, with excellent corrosion resistance, oxidation resistance, radiation resistance and high-temperature performance. The introduction of aluminum reduces the brittleness of the polysilazane coating, and pencil hardness exceeds 8H; formulated with high-temperature molecular materials, anti-rust fillers, ultrafine powders, organic polymer dispersions and other composite materials, the dense coating withstands temperatures above 1300 °C.

Choose this grade for the highest ceramic performance of the resin line: polyaluminosilazane with >75% ceramic yield, ≥8H, service up to 1000 °C — SiAlCN/SiAlCNO ceramic systems.

Service temperature. Maximum withstand temperature 1300 °C; suitable for long-term service at 1000 °C. Coatings formulated with temperature-resistant nano fillers withstand direct exposure to flame or high-temperature gas flow. The coating's temperature resistance varies correspondingly with the temperature resistance of the substrate; the coating resists cold–heat cycling and thermal shock (note: the product supplied for different substrates will differ).

Substrates & storage

Compatibility and handling essentials — confirmed per grade in the TDS and SDS.

Suitable substrates

Steel and stainless steel

Aluminium and other metals

Glass and ceramics

Stone and mineral surfaces

Carbon steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum alloys, titanium alloys, high-temperature alloy steels, glass-ceramic panels, ceramics, cement and similar materials are all suitable. Note: the coating formulation differs depending on the substrate; within a certain range it can be adjusted and matched to the substrate and its service conditions.

Storage, packaging & transport

  • Store in accordance with national regulations. The storage environment must be dry, cool and well ventilated, away from heat and ignition sources. Keep packaging containers tightly sealed and place them with care.

  • Maintain the storage temperature between 5 °C and 30 °C; the shelf life is 6 months.

  • If opened coating is not used up, the container must be resealed tightly with its lid for storage.

  • Prepared (mixed) coating that is not used up cannot be reclaimed; dispose of it in accordance with local regulations.

  • Product beyond its shelf life may be used only after testing confirms it still meets specification.

Standard process: Surface cleaning → Abrasive roughening → Cleaning and blow-off → EK-S10 treatment → Curing

  • Abrasive roughening. Before coating, grind or blast the substrate surface to remove rust, dust, dirt and other deposits from the workpiece surface. Roughening has a significant effect on coating performance: optimum Sa2.5, minimum St3 grade free of mill scale (GB/T 30790.4-2014), so give this full attention.

  • Cleaning. Use a dedicated cleaner or degreaser to remove residual oil, dust and other contaminants from the roughened surface.

  • Substrate drying. Before coating, ensure the substrate surface is dry and clean.

  • Coating mixing. This product is one-component; take the required quantity and filter it through a 120-mesh screen before use.

  • Coating application. For laboratory spray application, a spray gun with a 1.0 nozzle orifice gives better appearance and uniformity. After curing, the coating is somewhat hydrophobic and oleophobic, so repeated coating passes are not recommended.

  • Curing. After spraying, allow 10 minutes for surface drying, then cure at 250 °C for 60 minutes.

Note: This is a one-component heat-curing product; once opened, use the coating within 24 hours. During longer breaks in application, clean the application tools thoroughly to prevent them from setting. Application in a single spray pass is recommended, with a dry film thickness not exceeding 15 µm; otherwise the coating film properties will decline.
