The material

How this grade works and where it fits — exact parameters are defined in the TDS.

This product is produced by modifying and functionalizing polysilazane resin using a series of nanotechnologies. The coating exhibits excellent toughness, hardness, adhesion, anti-fingerprint and anti-yellowing performance, together with hydrophobic self-cleaning functionality. The film withstands 180° bending and remains intact, achieves a water contact angle of 120°–130°, resists oil-based marker graffiti, and has adhesion of Grade 0 (cross-cut). This transparent clear-coat material is widely used across many fields.

Choose this grade for consumer-facing stainless and glass: the strongest hydrophobic package of the range (110–120° contact angle) with an anti-fingerprint finish, 5H–7H, -30…430 °C service.

Final fit is confirmed during technical review — send your substrate, operating environment and application process, and the team will confirm this grade or point you to a closer one.

Substrates & storage

Compatibility and handling essentials — confirmed per grade in the TDS and SDS.

Suitable substrates

Steel and stainless steel

Aluminium and other metals

Glass and ceramics

Stone and mineral surfaces

Stainless steel, glass, cast iron, aluminum alloys, titanium alloys, high-temperature alloy steels, glass-ceramic panels, ceramics, photovoltaic glass panels and similar materials. Note: The coating formulation differs for different substrates; within a certain range it can be adjusted and matched to the substrate and its service conditions.

Storage, packaging & transport

  • Store in accordance with national regulations. The storage environment must be dry, cool and well ventilated, away from heat and ignition sources. Packaging containers must be kept tightly sealed and placed with care.

  • Storage temperature must be maintained between 5 °C and 30 °C; the shelf life is 6–12 months.

  • Opened, partially used coating must be stored with the container lid tightly resealed.

  • Mixed (prepared) coating that is not used up cannot be reclaimed; dispose of it in accordance with local regulations.

  • Product past its shelf life may be used only after testing confirms it still meets specification.

Standard process: Surface cleaning → Abrasive roughening → Cleaning and blow-off → EK-M14 spray application → Curing

  • Abrasive roughening. Before coating, sand or blast the substrate surface to remove rust, dust, dirt and other contamination adhering to the workpiece. Surface roughening has a significant influence on coating performance; the optimum grade is Sa2.5 and the minimum is St3 with no mill scale (GB/T 30790.4-2014), so pay close attention to this step.

  • Cleaning. Use a dedicated cleaner or degreaser to remove residual oil, dust and other contamination from the roughened surface.

  • Substrate drying. Before coating, ensure that the substrate surface is dry and clean.

  • Coating preparation (mixing). This product is one-component, requires no dilution and is ready to use. Dispense the resin and filter it through a 200-mesh screen before spraying.

  • Coating application. For laboratory spray application, a spray gun with a 1.0 nozzle gives better appearance and uniformity. The cured coating is somewhat hydrophobic and oleophobic, so repeated recoating is not recommended.

  • Curing. After spraying, cure at room temperature: surface-dry after 1 hour, dry-to-touch after more than 2 hours, through-dry after more than 24 hours. Accelerated heat curing is also possible (140 °C, held for 20 minutes).

Note: This is a one-component curing product; once the container has been opened, use the coating within 4–6 hours. During longer interruptions in application, clean the application tools thoroughly to prevent them from setting solid. Application in a single spray pass is recommended, with a dry film thickness not exceeding 100 µm.
