FAQ

Common questions about this material family.

What is the difference between EK-S8003 and EK-S8004?

EK-S8003 is hexamethyldisilazane, a methyl-functional silylating agent. EK-S8004 is tetramethyldivinyldisilazane and carries vinyl groups, which let it react into silicone and polymer systems. Exact specifications are given in each product TDS.

Can I test the material before committing to volume?

Yes — sample support is available for qualified B2B projects after a short technical review.

How should the material be handled?

Both grades are classified as Class 3 dangerous goods and must be shipped accordingly — closed-cup flash points are 11.4 °C for EK-S8003 and 34 °C for EK-S8004. Both hydrolyse on contact with moisture. Keep containers closed, away from open flame, and work in a well-ventilated area.

Are these ready-to-use products?

No. Silazane monomers are raw materials for synthesis, surface treatment and polymer modification — not finished coatings.

What is the minimum order quantity?

MOQ depends on the grade and packaging format. Standard packaging is 25 L and 200 L drums, with a 1 t IBC available for EK-S8003 — to be confirmed with our team for your case.

About silazane monomers

Silazane monomers are low-molecular-weight silicon–nitrogen compounds used as silylating agents, adhesion promoters and surface treatments. The methyl grade is long established in pharmaceutical synthesis and in the semiconductor industry; the vinyl grade adds reactive unsaturation for silicone and polymer modification.

Typical evaluation starts with the target reaction or substrate, the purity required and the process conditions.
