FAQ

Common questions about this material family.

What is the difference between EK-S8001 and EK-S8002?

EK-S8001 is hexamethylcyclotrisilazane and carries methyl groups only. EK-S8002 is trimethyltrivinylcyclotrisilazane and adds vinyl functionality, which opens up radical and hydrosilylation chemistry. Exact specifications are given in each product TDS.

Can I test the material before committing to volume?

Yes — sample support is available for qualified B2B projects after a short technical review.

How should the material be handled?

Both grades hydrolyse readily — contact with moisture forms silanol and releases ammonia. Close containers immediately after use and work in a well-ventilated area. Both are stored and transported as non-dangerous goods.

Are these ready-to-use products?

No. Cyclosilazanes are monomers supplied as raw material for polymerisation, crosslinking and powder modification — not as a finished coating.

What is the minimum order quantity?

MOQ depends on the grade and packaging format. Standard packaging is 25 L and 200 L drums, with custom formats on request — to be confirmed with our team for your case.

About cyclosilazanes

Cyclosilazanes are six-membered rings of alternating silicon and nitrogen atoms. Opening the ring yields high-molecular-weight polysilazanes, which is why these grades serve as the starting material for polysilazane resins and for SiC and SiCN ceramics. They also act as crosslinkers for silicone rubber and as modifiers for inorganic powders.

Typical evaluation starts with the target polymer system, the functionality required and the process temperature.
