EK-S02RC: This product is based on a rapidly room-temperature-curing poly(silazane–siloxane) as the film-forming substance and is a solvent-free, room-temperature self-curing product. The principal reactions involved in curing are the hydrolysis and oxidation of Si-NH-Si. Si-NH-Si bonds also react readily with -OH groups on the substrate surface, which provides excellent adhesion to the substrate. Adding a suitable catalyst to the resin further promotes the reaction between Si-H and Si-NH-Si; after curing, the resin forms a three-dimensional cross-linked network that gives the material good mechanical properties.

EK-S02SC: This product uses polysilazane as the film-forming substance and is a solvent-free, room-temperature self-curing product. The principal reactions involved in curing are the hydrolysis and oxidation of Si-NH-Si. At the same time, Si-NH-Si bonds react readily with -OH groups on the substrate surface, which provides good bonding to the substrate. Adding a suitable catalyst to the resin further promotes the reaction of Si-H with Si-NH-Si; after curing, the resin forms a three-dimensional cross-linked structure, giving the material good mechanical properties. Pencil hardness exceeds 4H with no yellowing. The product is suitable for voltage-withstanding electrical-insulation coatings, wear-resistant fire-protection coatings, hydrophobic self-cleaning anti-aging coatings for outdoor use, skin-friendly antibacterial topcoats, and similar applications. After curing it forms covalent bonds with the substrate, and this chemical bonding greatly increases the mechanical strength of the coating.

Choose EK-S02SC for the standard slow-cure schedule and maximum working comfort; choose EK-S02RC when a faster room-temperature cure and higher hardness (≥5H) are required.

Storage, packaging & transport

EK-S02RC

  • Store in accordance with national regulations, in a dry, cool, well-ventilated environment away from heat and ignition sources. Packaging containers must be kept tightly sealed and placed with care.

  • Storage temperature must be maintained between 5 °C and 30 °C; the shelf life is 12 months.

  • Opened, partially used coating must be stored with the lid tightly resealed.

  • Prepared (mixed) coating that has not been used up cannot be reclaimed; dispose of it in accordance with local regulations.

  • Product past its shelf life may be used only after testing confirms that it still meets specification.

  • Store in accordance with national regulations. The storage environment should be dry, cool and well ventilated, away from heat and ignition sources. Packaging containers must be kept tightly sealed and placed with care.

EK-S02RC

Standard process: Surface cleaning → Abrasive roughening → Cleaning and blow-off → EK-S02RC application → Curing

  • Abrasive roughening. Before coating, sand or blast the substrate surface to remove rust, dust, dirt and other contamination adhering to the workpiece surface. Roughening has a major influence on coating performance: Sa2.5 is optimal and St3 with no mill scale is the minimum (GB/T 30790.4-2014), so pay close attention to this step.

  • Cleaning. Use a dedicated cleaner or degreaser to remove oil, dust and other residues remaining on the roughened surface.

  • Substrate drying. Before coating, ensure that the substrate surface is dry and clean.

  • Coating mixing. The product is one-component; take the required amount and filter it through a 120-mesh screen before use.

  • Coating application. For laboratory spraying, a spray gun with a 1.0 orifice gives better appearance and uniformity. The cured coating is somewhat hydrophobic and oleophobic, so repeat coating (recoating) is not recommended.

  • Curing. After spraying, cure at room temperature: surface-dry after 30 minutes, touch-dry after more than 2 hours, and through-dry after more than 18 hours.

Note: This product is a one-component self-curing product; once the container is opened, use the coating within 4 hours. For longer application sessions, clean application tools thoroughly to prevent them from curing solid. Application in a single spray pass is recommended, with a dry film thickness not exceeding 70 µm; otherwise coating film performance will decline.

Standard process: Surface cleaning → abrasive roughening → cleaning and blowing off → EK-S02 treatment → curing

  • Cleaning. Use a dedicated cleaning agent or degreaser to remove oil, dust and other residues remaining on the abrasively roughened surface.

  • Substrate drying. Before coating, ensure that the substrate surface is dry and clean.

  • Coating preparation. The product is one-component; take the required quantity and filter it through a 120-mesh screen before use.

  • Coating application. For laboratory spraying, a spray gun with a 1.0 orifice gives better appearance and uniformity. After curing, the coating is somewhat hydrophobic and oleophobic, so recoating (applying repeat coats) is not recommended.

  • Curing. After spraying, for room-temperature curing the coating should be surface-dry in 2 hours, finger-touch dry in more than 3 hours, and through-dry in more than 24 hours.

Note: This product is a one-component self-curing product; once the container has been opened, use the coating within 4 hours. During longer breaks in application, clean the application tools thoroughly to prevent them from setting solid. It is recommended to complete spraying in a single pass, with a dry film thickness not exceeding 50 µm; otherwise the coating film performance will decline.
